Introduction
For the last decade, my
family and I have traveled the country seeking to
help small & struggling churches. As you can
imagine, we have met all sorts of different people
and had lots of different experiences. We
frequently cycle through every available emotion in
a given day, but through it all God is good, we have
seen some victories along the trail and it continues
to be an unforgettable experience that I wouldn’t
trade for anything in the world.
Every once in a while we
have shared some tales from the road with friends
and I have been told more than a few times “you
should write a book” with my response always
being-“If I did, I couldn’t sign my name to it.”
For whatever reason at this time I have decided
to start a collection of these stories and post them
here on the web site. I don’t know if they will
ever see a traditional book form. With web access
being just about universal these days it is far
easier for me, and cheaper for everyone involved (I
have nothing to print and you have nothing to buy)
to make it available electronically. The other
advantage is that I can post the individual stories
as they are ready, so stop buy often and read the
newest tale.
There will be no real
names used or actual locations, what is funny to me
may not be funny to another and if I chose to write
about negative experiences as well, my purpose would
be to make folks think, not to expose someone as a
cheat, a liar, or a hypocrite (even if they are).
Anyhow, here we
begin these Tales from a 21st century
Baptist Church Firefighter I hope you enjoy
them. And remember, next time you spend time with a
traveling preacher, be careful what you say and do,
he may write about it one day!
