August 3, 2010

I trust this finds everyone well.  July was like  a whirlwind and August looks to be just as bad if not worse.  I can’t remember what I may or may not have told you in our July update so some of last month’s info may be a repeat.  If it is just skip down to the August Information.

July

On the 4th of July we recreated a colonial American worship service and it went amazingly well, it was a good day at Needmore with good services all day and Emilee’s 15th birthday thrown in for good measure.  Later in the day we found out that our Pastor and our Youth pastor at Lincoln Ave. Baptist Church had resigned effective immediately after a rough couple of weeks.  Lots of folks are hurting over all of this and we would appreciate your prayers for the church and those involved.

On July 5th I preached an afternoon service, at the camp nearby and we had a great time as always.

On the 11th I went to Ionia to preach on Sunday night. This was an new experience for us as I left David II here at needmore to preach in my absence.  It went well and for the first time, our ministry was able to be in two places at once.  I am looking forward to being able to do more of this type of thing in the future.  I met with the deacons for an hour before the service and some other folks for a bit after the service.  Incidentally, between the work here at Needmore and Carmen’s health issues, it seems like it has been forever since I have been anywhere else to preach.  Lincoln Ave. posts all of the services online, if you are interested you can listen to my message from that night by clicking here

On July 17, David II preached a youth meeting in Ionia, we had several go over with him from Needmore and it went well.

On July 19th 22 people arrived from Grace Baptist Church in Zachary, LA to help us out for a week.  It was  great week and God blessed in a mighty way.  We got tons of work done, knocking on about 700 doors and doing 5 day Bible clubs in three different locations.  They also had services every night at the camp and we had a picnic and afternoon service Sunday afternoon at the camp after the morning service at the church.  We are now busy doing follow up from all of the visits and organizing Sunday School, Junior Church and van routes to start picking up some of the kids we came in contact with.

On Friday July 23rd I took Lena down near Fort Wayne, IN and put her on a train bound for New York City.  Our good Friends Pastor Matt Swiatkowski and his family were there to meet her when she got off the train, and she is presently there visiting with them.  They all went to Walkertown NC for the National Sword of the Lord Conference last week and this week they are going to a church in Richmond, VA for a Youth Conference.  We should get her back about the middle of August, but the details of that exchange have yet to be determined.

Also in July, Carmen had an appointment with a neurologist and yet another MRI, it has been another month of people telling us they have no idea what is wrong.  Please pray about this with us.

August

As I said, August is looking to be as crazy as July was, this information is current as of today.  Please pray about all of this with us.

On the 6th and 7th the camp (shady green pastures) has its annual Gospel Sing.  It kicks off with a lakeside service on Friday night, which I will be preaching.

On the 8th we should be running a van route for the first time, please pray about this with us.

On the 15th I will be back in Ionia for the day preaching at Lincoln Ave. and taking care of anything else that may need to be taken care of.

At this point it looks like I will be going somewhere to get Lena on or about the 16th but I don’t have any details at the moment.

On the 20th & 21st David II will be preaching four times over two days at the School Starts to Early Campout at Grace Baptist Church  in French Lick, IN.  Emilee is going also and I will be driving them down and back.

On about Thurday August 26th the kids and I will be leaving for the east coast for a few days on 8/28 we will be attending a political rally in Washington DC and on the 29th I will update two of our Supporting churches.  Ambassador Baptist in Frederick, MD in the AM and Emmanuel Baptist in Claysburg, PA in the PM, we will head back home to Carmen, who is staying behind bright and early Monday morning.

As I mentioned much is going on, we are certainly grateful for your prayers and look forward to updating you early Sept. about the goings on of August.
