Dear Praying Friends,
With foreign field missionaries there is a clear cut process. After their
calling and education they begin deputation, and once they achieve their
determined support level they then are commissioned and sent to the field and
then every 4 years or so they take a furlough and come home for a time. With
your typical home missionary the lines are generally not nearly as clear,
deputation is an ongoing process and generally furloughs do not exist. The
Iseminger family is no exception as we begin our 10th year in this ministry. We
have looked forward to the day when we were in a position to provide some long
term church helps.
With all of that being said it appears as though the Isemingers are so to speak
On the Field. Last weekend we pulled into Ayers Road Baptist Church in Macon, GA
to assess the situation and see what we could do. This church was
seriously considering closing its doors and perhaps would have if someone could
not have stepped in to help out. We worked most of Saturday on getting the
trailer situated and getting electric and water ran to it (there are no outside
hookups at the church so it was a chore, our water line is actually coming out
of the baptistery (after we modified the fitting) and through a ventilation hole
in the side of the building, and as I type this we are having some problems with
the electric that we can't quite sort out.
Sunday we had 14 in Sunday School 16 in the morning service and 10 in the
evening service (with 5 of those in all services being our family) there are
many things that need to be done and need to be addressed Monday and Tuesday
have been spent cleaning and organizing. The church is a large metal building on
several acres of ground that is all paid for, in addition to the auditorium and
fellowship hall there are 10 rooms to be used for Sunday School and office
space, all of these 10 rooms have things stored in them.
This coming Sunday we are meeting with the church folks after the morning
service to share with them the game plan, which is basically this:
1) Return to having all scheduled services (Which hadn't happened for months and
we started Sunday)
2) Have Sunday School for the kids (Which we are starting this Sunday)
3) Get the church facilities presentable (Which we started bright and early
Monday Morning)
4) Get a church brochure/tract together and get them out (Which we hope to start
next Monday)
5) Get folks praying seriously that God would bless
Assuming that these folks want to move ahead it seems that this will be our
major project for the next little while. It is exciting but exhausting at the
same time. but the reality is this: This is what we have been planning, praying
and raising support for. This is why our supporters have us in their missions
budget. This is why we exist so we are excited about the opportunities. Please
Pray with us and for us and this project pray that God will bless, pray for us
that we will have the wisdom to know how to proceed and also for us as we do
more physical labor than we have done for some time. Pray also that God will
meet our needs, we have about 50% of our needed support and the church can't do
much to help us.
I am sure glad we have a big God.
We will be in touch and keep you updated regularly.
Because of Calvary
