July 2004 Email Archive

Dear Praying Friends,

I know that my monthly updates are usually right at the first of the month but the modem in our laptop went out and I am just now getting back on-line.

June was a good month with good meetings safe travel and new support.

July and August are pretty busy months. We did have a cancellation the last of July that leaves us with a Wednesday night open, please pray that we can fill it in. One meeting that we have just scheduled that didn't make the prayer letter is on July 21 at Lake Erie Baptist Church in Brocton, NY with Pastor Nutt.

We are presently in Marienville, PA at the Forest Area Baptist Church doing VBS we had 21 kids on Monday and were up to 41 on Thursday so things are going well.

We will break camp here tomorrow morning (Saturday) and drive about 50 miles to Frewsburg NY for 4 meetings in Western NY. Then it is off to eastern NY and Vermont and New Hampshire before moving on to Delaware.

I have gotten e mails from several folks about our cell phone. it is not on and at this point I am not sure if we will be using that number again our not. You can leave us a voice mail by calling (800) 436-0556 and entering our mailbox number 1415805. We check it everyday and we will call you back as soon as we can.

We are grateful for your prayers for the family, the ministry and the travel. Please continue to pray for the sale of our van. we really need to get out from under the payment and insurance. We have it on autotrader.com and it is listed in a local paper in GA.

We will look forward to updating you next month.

Dear Praying Friends,

I apologize for sending an impersonal e mail when there are so many of you that we would like to call. But with everything going on I wanted to get this out quickly.

Yesterday afternoon we were traveling between Frewsburg and Cassadaga, NY Leaving the church we were at Sunday Morning and heading to the church we were at Sunday Night. When we went to turn left onto the road the church is on, there was a man who was apparently passing about 5 cars at a high rate of speed and when I turned he hit me from the driver's side mirror forward. From the mirror up the truck is pretty bad off, but not as bad as the other guy. He smashed all of his windows out on the passenger side all of the panels on that side and blew a tire. We had his glass
clear up on our roof. But PRAISE THE LORD OUR HOME WAS NOT TOUCHED!

None of us were hurt, praise the Lord but we are ALL pretty shaken up.
If I would have been 3 feet further into the turn the wreck would have been far more serious, possibly sending the truck and trailer over the embankment.

We are parked at the Open Door Baptist Church where I preached last night. We can stay here until next Thursday (7/29) and make short drives to all of our meetings but then we have almost 400 miles to Stony Creek NY. So it is vital that things happen quickly.

Please pray with us that this will happen. We are waiting to hear from an insurance adjuster and are praying that it won't take them long to assign fault, so that we can get a check and get the truck fixed.

We will keep you updated about this situation as it develops and covet your prayers on our behalf.

Dear Praying Friends,

Just a quick note to update everyone on our situation. Tomorrow is the last day of a three day VBS here at Open Door Baptist in Cassadaga, NY as soon as it is over at 3:00 PM we are going to finish loading up and head down the road. We got the insurance estimate of $2,327 this week, the insurance company of the man who hit me has mailed statements to the witnesses and ordered the police report, they will not make a determination of fault until they have all the information. All of the witnesses told us that the other driver was clearly at fault so we are fairly sure that we will be getting a check, it is just a matter of when.

Pastor Emke and the folks here at Open Door have been very gracious to us we have been parked here for 10 days, the Pastor helped me to straiten out the front bumper and put on the mirrors that one of his members gave us, so to make a long story short, the truck is drivable and I have spent less than $5.00 out of my pocket (for turn signal bulbs and blind spot mirrors) and we can safely pull our trailer down the road.

Assuming that we get a check from the insurance company we are going to have to figure out what we are going to fix and when and where we can get it done.

Please pray with us that everything will continue to fall into place and the last day of VBS will go well, we had several salvation decisions today and are praying for more tomorrow.

When we head out tomorrow we will drive 150 miles to Snow Shoe, PA. The generator that the folks at Grace Baptist in Warner Robins bought for us is waiting for us as well as a few weeks of mail. Lord willing we will get the generator mounted on the truck, weed through our mail and head out Thursday for the 400 miles to Stony Creek, NY to start an 8 day meeting on Sunday.

Thanks for your prayers on our behalf and we will keep you informed of what is going on.
